Beijing Jiaotong University, one of the three origins of Jiaotong University, has historical roots dating back to 1896. Its predecessor was the Railway Management Institute founded by the Qing government, which was the first higher education school specializing in training management talents in China, and the birthplace of modern railroad management and telecommunication education in China. The university has two campuses in Haidian District, Beijing, with a total area of nearly 1,000 mu and a building area of more than 1 million square meters. In Weihai City, Shandong Province, there is the Weihai Campus, covering an area of more than 1,000 mu. Beijing Jiaotong University is a national leading university directly under the Ministry of Education, jointly built by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport, Beijing Municipal People's Government and China National Railway Group Corporation. It ranks as one of the national universities of “211 Project”, “superior discipline innovation platform of 985 Project” and Double First-Class plan. Beijing Jiaotong University, with the motto of “Knowing and Doing”, shoulders a new mission and is moving towards the goal of a world-class university with distinctive features.
北京交通大學作為交通大學的三個源頭之一，歷史淵源可追溯到1896年，前身是清政府創辦的鐵路管理傳習所，是中國第一所專門培養管理人才的高等學校，是中國近代鐵路管理、電信教育的發祥地。學校在北京市海淀區建有東西兩個校區，總面積近1000畝，建筑面積100余萬平方米；在山東省威海市建有威海校區，占地面積1000余畝。北京交通大學是教育部直屬，教育部、交通運輸部、北京市人民政府和中國國家鐵路集團有限公司共建的全國重點大學，是國家“211工程”、“985工程優勢學科創新平臺”、“雙一流”建設高校。北京交通大學秉承“知行”校訓，肩負新的使命，正向著特色鮮明世界一流大學的目標邁進。
