Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute is a leading government quality assured college with a well-established and robust experience profile in transnational education. 陜西工業職業技術學院是1999年3月經教育部批準、由創辦于1950年的國家級重點中?！剃枡C器制造學校改制升格的省屬全日制普通高等學校，是西北地區首家由教育部批準改制升格的高職學校。在七十余年的發展歷程中，共培養各類專業技術人才15萬余名，為陜西乃至全國裝備制造業的發展做出了重要貢獻。2019年，教育部、財政部審定并公示中國特色高水平高職學校和專業建設計劃（“雙高計劃”）名單，學院隸屬A檔建設單位。
學院設有機械工程學院、材料工程學院、電氣工程學院、信息工程學院、航空工程學院、財經與旅游學院、商貿與流通學院、汽車工程學院、化工與紡織服裝學院、土木工程學院、國際教育學院、馬克思主義學院、繼續教育與培訓學院、公共課教學部、體育部、美育部等16個教學院部。立足產業急需，專業設置涵蓋裝備制造、電子電氣、工程材料、信息技術、財經商貿、公共事業、物流管理、工民建筑、紡織染化、服裝藝術等十大職業門類78個專業及方向，形成了以工科為主，經、管、文、外、藝類專業協調發展的格局。
學院與德國等26個國家和地區的近百所院校、企業、教育機構建立了合作關系。馬拉維共和國總統穆塔里卡、新西蘭駐華大使傅恩萊先后來校訪問。2010年以來，累計派出680名師生赴17個國家和地區交流學習，近30名學生赴德國、韓國知名高校攻讀碩士、學士學位。招收近200名學歷留學生、短期交流生來校學習。
