Baicheng Normal University is the only provincial undergraduate university in western Jilin, located at the intersection of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. The university was founded in 1958 as Baicheng Normal College. In August 2000, Baicheng Forestry College, which once subordinated to the State Forestry Administration, was incorporated into the school. In March 2002, it was upgraded to a undergraduate college and renamed as Baicheng Normal University. The school covers an area of 637, 100 square meters, with a construction area of 246, 000 square meters and has 917 teaching staff and 13,076 full-time students. The university has 50 undergraduate majors which cover nine disciplines: law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management and art. Baicheng Normal University has carried out friendly exchanges and cooperation with more than 30 universities abroad. It is also a member of the Chinese Language Alliance, Sino Russian Cooperative University Alliance and China-ASEAN Consortium on Vocational Education. Over the 60 years since its establishment, Baicheng Normal University has always adhered to the purpose of serving economic and social development. It has cultivated more than 70, 000 qualified teachers for basic education and applied professionals needed for economic and social development. It is known as the cradle of basic education teachers in western Jilin, the base of talent cultivation for economic and social development and an important highland for scientific research.
白城師范學院是吉林西部唯一一所省屬本科院校，坐落于吉林、黑龍江、內蒙古三省區交匯地帶。學校始建于1958年，前身是白城師范高等?？茖W校。2000年8月，原隸屬于國家林業局的白城林業學校并入。2002年3月，升格為本科院校，更名為白城師范學院。
學校占地面積63.71萬平方米，建筑面積24.60萬平方米,現有教職工917人。全日制在校生13076人。學校設有50個本科專業，涵蓋法學、教育學、文學、歷史學、理學、工學、農學、管理學、藝術學9個學科門類。
學校與國（境）外30余所高校開展了友好交流與合作。是“中文聯盟”“中俄合作辦學高校聯盟”“中國－東盟職業教育國際合作聯盟”等組織會員單位。
建校60多年來，學校始終堅持為經濟社會發展服務的辦學宗旨，共計培養基礎教育合格師資和經濟社會發展所需要的應用型專門人才7萬余名，被譽為吉林西部基礎教育教師的搖籃、經濟社會發展的人才培育基地和科學研究的重要高地。
