Chongqing Normal University was founded in 1954 with a traceable history dating back to the Public Eastern Sichuan Normal University in 1906. It has three campuses, respectively located in the Chongqing University Town, Shapingba District and Beibei District with total land coverage of 2688 mu. The University is known as a national model green unit, a municipal civilized unit and a municipal garden-like unit, municipal forest campuses and municipal campuses of beauty. It is a public university approved by the Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council of China to confer bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and doctor’s degrees. Through over six decades’ construction, the University has formed a mode driven by two wheels, i.e. normal education and non-normal education, a “troika” comprising elementary education, vocational education and international Chinese education, and a pattern featured by coordinated development of “three plates” – cultural inheritance and innovation, policy-making consulting and public services, and technological problem solving and application conversion. The University has three national bases, namely Chinese Education Base of the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs under the State Council, National Key Training Base of Vocational Education Teachers under the Ministry of Education, and National Teachers Training Base (Chongqing) for International Chinese Promotion. It is one of the first two “Model Bases of Sino-German (Chongqing) Cooperation on Vocational Education”, as well as a “special education base” of the Ministry of Education and the National Development and Reform Commission. In addition, it also has Chongqing Vocational Education Assessment and Teacher Development Coordination and Innovation Center and several municipal model training bases, including regular middle school and primary school teachers training base, kindergarten teachers training base, special education teachers training base, vocational education teachers training base, wind music teachers training base, among others. Besides, some of the first ministry-university jointly constructed colleges are also established relying on the University. Such colleges include Chongqing Journalism College, Chongqing Tourism College, Chongqing College of Music, Chongqing Preschool Education College and Chongqing Special Education College. Following the trend of internationalization, the University has been persisting in open-up operation. It has established sound partnerships with education institutes in more than 30 countries and regions, including Russia, America, Australia and Britain for Sino-foreign joint development, cooperative research, mutual visits of teachers and students, or cooperation and exchange in other forms. It has established overseas education institutes, including Confucius Institute at Education Institute of Rwanda University in Rwanda, Confucius Institute at University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, Confucius Institute at Edge Hill University in UK, and Confucius Institute at Troy University in US, Widyakartika University Chinese Normal College in Indonesia. Also, the University facilitates its “CNU Foreign Students Education Program” to enroll students from all over the world, as a recipient of governmental scholarship, scholarship for Confucius institutes and mayoral scholarship from Chongqing People’s Government for foreign students.

重慶師范大學創辦于1954年，辦學歷史可追溯到1906年創立的官立川東師范學堂。共有大學城、沙坪壩區和北碚三個校區，校園總面積2688畝，是全國綠化模范單位、重慶市文明單位、重慶市園林式單位、重慶市森林校園、重慶市美麗校園。學校是中國國務院學位委員會批準的可授予學士、碩士和博士學位的公立綜合性大學。經過六十余年的建設，學校已形成了師范教育和非師范教育“兩輪驅動”，基礎教育、職業教育和漢語國際教育“三駕馬車”，文化傳承與創新、決策咨詢與公共服務、科技攻關與應用轉化“三大板塊”協同發展的特色辦學格局。

學校擁有“國務院僑務辦公室華文教育基地”“教育部全國職教師資培訓重點建設基地”“國家漢語國際推廣師資培訓基地（重慶）”等三個國家級基地，是全國先期兩個“中德（重慶）職教合作示范基地”之一，是中國教育部和國家發改委“特教基地學?！?。擁有重慶市職業教育測評與師資培養協同創新中心和重慶市普通中小學教師、幼兒教育教師、特殊教育教師、職教師資、管樂師資等多個市級培訓示范基地。全國首批部校共建“重慶新聞學院”，以及重慶旅游學院、重慶音樂學院、重慶幼兒師范學院、重慶特殊教育學院也依托我校設立。

學校把握教育國際化趨勢，堅持開放辦學，已與俄羅斯、美國、澳大利亞、英國等30多個國家和地區的教育機構建立友好合作關系，開展中外聯合培養、合作科研、師生互訪等各種形式的合作與交流。在海外建立了盧旺達大學孔子學院、斯里蘭卡凱拉尼亞大學孔子學院、英國知山大學孔子學院、美國特洛伊大學孔子學院、巴布亞新內亞科技大學孔子學院和印度尼西亞智星大學漢語師范學院等辦學機構。學校大力推行“留學重師計劃”，面向全球招收留學生來校學習，是中國政府獎學金、孔子學院獎學金和重慶市人民政府外國留學生市長獎學金的接收學校。
